Cape Men's Yoga & Meditation - 03 April 2016

Image
Welcome to Cape Men's Yoga blog page. Last week we explored the use of bandhas - the energy locks which intensify yoga practice and power up the cleansing fire energy of the body. We also took time to open up the shoulders and practice handstands. This week we will have another hatha flow class, exploring the use of breath, posture, the mind's focus and contractions of our muscles to create a harmonic approach to wellness and well-being. Whether you are a total newbie or an experienced yogi, you are welcome to join our community-based practice. Our teachers are all qualified and volunteer their time to build the community of practice. Our new venue in the southern suburbs of Cape Town is great! A real home for CMY. Plenty of parking and an ideal yoga hall. We start at 10.30 and the class runs for 2 hours - including meditation, yoga asana and breath-work. You need a sweat towel and a water bottle. It is best to have your own mat though we have extra for drop ins...

Special Easter Sunday class - Cape Men's Yoga & Meditation

We have moved to our amazing new venue in Constantia in the southern suburbs of Cape Town. This beautiful space is well equipped for our men's naked yoga on Sundays. We've moved the time to 10.30 to 12.30 to fit in with the venue scheduling. We will have a naked yoga class this Sunday, 27 March 2016. We'll be explore the use of bandhas - the body locks which influence energy flow and protect the body from injuries. As we finally have good wall space we are also going to be doing an introduction to handstands. Handstands for some reason have become a craze on social media. That is not a good reason to learn them - but they are also interesting in teaching us about balance, about seeing the world from a different angle and in building up shoulder strength. If you are terrified of handstands, don't worry, there will be other options for you. You are never obliged to do a posture that could cause you problems or anxiety. Yoga is always about your specific jou...

Cape Men's Yoga has moved to a new venue and a slightly new time slot. We have left our city centre venue and after a spell in Vredehoek we are now moving to our new venue in Constantia in the southern suburbs. We welcome you to come and join us at this beautiful venue with a formal yoga studio, parklands around us and secure parking off a quiet street. We will have our usual format of 2 hour naked men's yoga with breath-work, yoga asana and meditation. This week Nigel is teaching a yoga vinyasa flow class and fire meditations. You need to bring a sweat towel, a water bottle and an open mind. It is best if you have your own mat but we do have extras. It is a community yoga practice - the teachers volunteer their time and the students volunteer their commitment and pay by donation. Donations are welcome - contribute as you are capable. Dear yogis, Please note we have no class on Sunday 6 March. It is very rare we cancel classes but it is the time of the Argus Cycle race and much of Cape Town will be shut down to facilitate the race.  We will be back on the mat, naked and smiling, on Sunday 13 March with Eugene leading the sun salutations. Please join us. We'll be back at our temporary venue in Vredehoek. Get in touch for the directions and the address.  CMY is a voluntary, all nude, men's community yoga group. You need a towel and a water bottle and a willingness to be at peace with your mind and your body. It is best to bring your own mat (make sure to buy a yoga mat not a pilates mat). We have a few extra mats for drop ins.  Beginners are welcome. Payment is by voluntary donation.  Email us on capemensyoga AT gmail.com Namaste
