2016 Winter Retreat - call for deposits

12 - 14 August 2016 - Cape Men's Yoga Winter Retreat:

Weaving the Tapestry of our Lives

This year our winter retreat is at a new venue, still in the Overberg, the magical Hearth & Soul which is between Napier and Stanford. We will be able to accommodate 25 men for the 2 nights / 3 days fully catered retreat. This is our 9th biannual retreat and we welcome you to join us from Cape Town, from the Western Cape or from further afield. A weekend of naked yoga, meditation, co-creative activity and fellowship of men.

The pricing depends on how many of us attend as there are some shared venue costs. The approximate pricing (excluding transport but including all other costs, in rands) is:

Dorms: R930
Shared accommodation: R1150
Single occupancy: R1450

This is per person for the two nights.

The theme for this winter's retreat is weaving the tapestry of our lives. Life is made up of so many different threads - our culture, upbringing, language, sexuality, loves, creativity, work, loss, aspirations, achievements, friendships, awakenings, spirituality and legacies.

The retreat allows us to explore our unique life journey, how we weave together meaning from the different types of threads and how we come together with other men, other people, other sentient beings to generate a pattern and a story of life.

The emphasis on this retreat is about you being you, accepting yourself, discovering yourself, creating new expressions of yourself - all in a cooperative and nourishing space.

We are at a new venue, Hearth & Soul which is located outside of Napier in the Overberg. Deposits are due to book a place. 12 - 14 August is the retreat. You may book to come a day earlier - 11 May. Note that 9 August is a public holiday.

The retreat consists of yoga classes, guided meditation events, co-creative activities, ayurvedic practices, vegetarian meals, massage class, fellowship with the men, sharing, growing and being.

There is the option of coming a day earlier, on the Thursday, to begin with the meditation and some yoga. We get the same rate for the extra day with catering available. Deposits are due by 1 June 2016.

To reserve your place, email us at capemensyoga AT gmail.com. Please specify whether you want to be in a dorm, a shared room or single occupancy. Rooms are on a first come, first serve basis.

The catering is fully vegetarian and can include vegan or other dietary requirements on request. Drugs and alcohol are not permitted.

We are calling for a deposit of R400 per person. This deposit is not refundable. If you pay, we expect you to attend. Should you have issues with finances or dates, please advise us and we can discuss options on the timing. It is entirely non-profit and hence it requires everyone's understanding.

The retreat includes:
  • yoga classes
  • meditation classes
  • nature walks
  • prayanama breathing instruction
  • creative events together
Retreats are an occasion to get out of your regular life, put aside your work and relationship situation, and spend sometime on your spiritual development and inner peace. Practicing more intensively can often take you to a deeper level of understanding of yoga and meditation.

Please note that retreats are not for beginners. You need a regular or at least foundation experience for yoga. Otherwise the intensity of the weekend practices can be too much for your body.

Cape Men's Yoga has six monthly retreats - each winter and summer. We are in the southern hemisphere, so August can be cool and wet. The yoga studio is heated accordingly but remember to bring warm clothes for the other events. This is not a nudist retreat, only the yoga is done naked.
