Sunday 24 May 2015 - we'll be doing 108 hatha sun salutations to raise money for Nepal and those helping with emergency services. The funds will go to community organisations that we know directly on the ground in that country. Funds will be channelled through a South African registered NGO / NPO Trust and delivered to an equivalent indigenous peoples environmental and community development project in Kathmandu. The recipient organisation is working both in Kathmandu and the Mount Everest area. They are currently supplying tents, food and medicine to displaced people. If you can't make the yoga class, email us and we'll send you the South African NGO / NPO banking details. Deposits should be marked 'Nepal'. The NGO is audited annually so money will go in where it is meant to and be delivered where it is needed. Cape Men's Yoga is proud to invite you to join a two part teaching session on the Surya Namaskara A / Sun Salutation A sequence. In the Hatha and Ashtanga yoga traditions, most yogis know to follow a basic sequential routine that involves most muscles in the body. These are the Surya Namaskara sequence - the honorific greeting of the sun and the new day. On Sunday 10 August 2014 we'll spend time teaching the hatha surya namaskara in detail - explaining and practicing each asana and developing confidence in the sequence. On Sunday 17 August 2014, we'll be doing a ritual observed by many yogis and ashrams around the world, of performing 108 full cycles of the Surya Namaskara to music. It is a physically challenging practice but powerful, meditative and liberating. It is a journey into the heart of yoga. We invite you to join us for this special event. It also provides for excellent training ahead of our Spring Awakening Retreat in the Overberg, 12-14 September 2014...
