Cape Men's Yoga & Meditation - Mysore Hatha Yoga Flow Class - 26 April 2015

Duncan has just returned from his advanced teacher training course in Mysore, India. This week he will be offering up a feast of yoga teaching.  This week we will be following a Hatha Flow class This is more dynamic, using a vinyasa sequence in between each asana. This flow is gentle, light but equally as powerful as the Hatha sequence we normally follow. Complete beginners to advanced practitioners are welcome to these classes.  We follow the eight limbs of yoga, particularly as it relates to Patanjali’s Sutras. Patanjali was a great yoga teacher who collected up the essence of yoga teaching in a collected set of sutras or short chapters. This means that asana (postures) are just one of eight tools to lead us to internal bliss. Asana - the yoga movement - together with breath, helps us to relax the mind and become better focused for meditation. Yoga helps us to become calmer and more compassionate people.  All you need is an open mind and open heart. Bring a mat, towe...

It is a hatha week, guys. After a couple of vinyasa sessions we are back to Duncan inspirational Mysore hatha practice. This beautiful sequence of hatha poses is great for advanced and beginner yogis. It has the simplicity and safety elements for the newbies, but is beautifully articulated and a potential very strong practice for the more advanced practitioners. These speak either metaphorically or literally to our mental, emotional and spiritual integration, harmony, healing and coherence. After Earth and Water, we are onto the FIRE element - associated with the Manipura Chakra. Join us for this igniting practice, the fire of transformation, creativity and self expression through yoga asana and meditation. Classes are free with donations invited for the use of the venue. It is an all male, all nude traditional yoga practice, with pranayama breathing instruction and meditation. It is ecum...
