Nude yoga and meditation for men - rebooting your life

Sunday 29 June 2014 -

Join us for two hours of exploration of the mind, body and spirit.

A lively class of vinyasa flow yoga followed by guided meditation. Join our community and give yourself that healing boost on a Sunday to make your week smoother and your life more focussed.

In the past seven weeks we have been studying the use of the chakras - energetic points in the body associated with aspects of our character and our relationship with the greater universe. This week we'll be working with the bandhas - energetic locks which when used properly are believed to share the flow of energy in the body. They can be used for energising ourselves, for helping to control muscle, breath and blood flow. The bandhas also help us shift focus from one part of the body and one type of energy flow, to a new dynamic that ideally helps us on our path to greater consciousness and wellness.

The class is designed for those with some yoga experience but beginners are welcome. You need a yoga mat, a sweat towel and you may want a water bottle.

The classes are in central Cape Town.

Classes are free but we do invite you to make a voluntary contribution to cover the use of the venue.

Blog note:

I was watching this movie where the "bad guys" were all dressed in uniforms and abusing people by the misuse of their power. It reminded me again about how being naked in yoga is the great equaliser. There is a long honoured tradition of nude yoga in India - from ancient times to today. Our modern practice of nude yoga involves stripping away our social character, the narrative we build up around us. Naked yoga is about an honest understanding of ourselves. Sure it is fun to be a room full of naked men, but the real value is putting your honest self out there and working with that to find the inner peace and well-being. Our practice is about helping you know yourself better, work with your body and mind, and fundamentally balance yourself so you get more out of life.
